Color control for an old monitor: That is what you can do with NightVision (for Mac and PC).

For software vendors: An easy way to shoot a photo of the boxed software with only your keyboard and mouse.

Produce PDF without Adobe: And freely, too, thanks to PDF995 (freeware). However, I must tell you that the installation is tough and may fail. But it's worth a try knowing the potential.

An antivirus software for personal use: In addition to other similar products (for example the excellent Kaspersky personal), here is AntiVir Personal Edition (Easy to remember, eh?).

Terragen builds landscapes: a freeware that generates superb landscapes (totally photorealist) like the one here (click on it to see some more examples).
