Radeon lesson #3bis (FarCry): I can now confirm that a Radeon 9800pro/128Mo, an Athlon 2600+ and 1GB of RAM is a very configuration to play FarCry. I fly at 1600*1200*32bits with most settings at "medium" or more. Totally fluid.
Radeon lesson #3 (FarCry): I can now confirm that a Radeon 9800pro/128Mo, an Athlon 2600+ and 1GB of RAM is a very configuration to play FarCry. I fly at 1280*1024*32bits with most settings at "medium". Totally fluid.
Radeon lesson #2: Do not wait before upgrading the drivers. The ones provided inside the original CD-ROM are sooo old and merely usable for booting up. Go to the ATI web site and get the lastest ones.
Radeon lesson #1: Learnt the hard way. Always have a power supply big enough for your new video card. I just fried my own 280W power supply. All was going very well up to when I started FarCry (and thus started using 3D graphics).
FarCry: I decided to upgrade my own graphics to a Radeon 9800Pro from PowerColor (169 euros). It will be much better than the old Radeon 7000 (29 euros) that was too slow for FarCry and Doom3. Installation undergoing. Comments later.
Dynax/Maxxum 7 Digital: Free news are starting to leak out of Konica/Minolta about their future new digital reflex camera. Mainly from an interview where we learn that the camera will have a stunning anti-shake feature (the CCD moves by more than a centimeter) and that efforts about color reproduction are a leading concern in the design.
Nevertheless, prices may not be in direct competition with the best competition from Nikon and Canon since Mr. Izuka insists a little too much on the high quality of the camera and its competitive advantages ($1,500 US ?).
Canon EOS-20D: I am still waiting for the Dynax/Maxxum 7 Digital that Konica Minolta is committed to announce in Septembre, but Canon already delivered technical characteristics of their latest reflex camera:
20 minutes: that's the average time before your PC freshly installed with Windows XP and connected to the Internet becomes infected with one of the nasty little bugs roaming on the big network.
FarCry: In order to help me wait for Doom3, Xtian and Kalou gave me FarCry. this is serious FPS. Comments in a few days if I can leave the keyboard and the tropical island to write.
Capitol Hill Blue: Ok, it doesn't seem impartial (!) but this web site gives a seemingly interesting sight of what currently happens in Washington. Have your intelligence ON, and browse Capitol Hill Blue now.
Choose the right graphics card for Doom3 or HalfLife2: I found this nice tutorial very understandable.
