My best wishes for 2005: and a Merry Christmas.
BitTorrent: this last weeks, web sites publishing torrents (links to downloadable files for BitTorrent P2P software) are falling under the assaults of the MPAA in Europe and in the USA. I found a few web sites still surviving:
- IsoHunt.com
- The small French EmuTorrent
- PirateBay.org
- FileList.org if its current problems are only technical
- TorrentSpy and its search engine
- Maybe Yotoshi.com and its search engine
However, there is hope with the possible coming of a new BitTorrent not depending on the presence of a central server. Next on SuprNova.org.
In-flight mobile phones? Those who met me face-to-face know that for years I have been opposed to this unscientific law: mobile phones and most electronic equipment are forbiden in-flight. This month (December 2004), FCC has voted to allow the use of in-flight broadband Internet access and is talking about allowing cell phones use. It was about time to stop worrying uselessly and to start listening to the positive tests made by aircraft manufacturers (they show that there is no significant risk).
Two new web radios : (starting 20 December) and they are intellectual and cultural (Oh! The C... word again) and have the names of:
- Les sentiers de la création
- Les chemins de la connaissance
Print your own personalized 2005 calendar: It's about time to do it, it's not difficult if you have a graphics software like Corel Photo Paint or Adobe Photoshop, and above all if you use the templates from 455 rocket web site. It's free.
Sorry everybody: A refreshing web site; Let's not forget that 49% of americans are as sorry as we are.
My
prefered software for digital photo: They start to ask me repetitively
what I chose for digital photography. As a matter of fact, it's simple.
- Corel Draw! and Corel PhotoPaint because I am used to them and they are less expensive than Adobe equivalents.
- IrfanView: a nice freeware able to do a lot of thing including blowing up the size of an image using the powerful Lanczo algorithm.
