										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I already knew that there were fake electronic components of all kinds (don&#8217;t ask, but I work in the electronics industry and my own employer has sad stories to tell &#8211; but wouldn&#8217;t <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f642.png" alt="🙂" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> ), but I believed that this was limited to small cheap components. I was wrong.</p>
<p>The US retailer NewEgg indicated this week that they found in their stock what appears to be fake Intel Core i7 920 CPUs. Actually, they would have sold a small number of them before becoming aware of the issue.</p>
<p>What a world!</p>

<p>This is what is strongly suggested by an article published in <a href="http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/1495743/intel-halts-32nm-ssd-shipments">The Register</a> indicating that the Santa Clara giant would have suspended the shipments of its 2nd generation of X25-M SSD drives, because of a data corruption issue. We are waiting for a firmware update to correct this problem from what appears to be a tremendous product with low power, high performance and nice price.</p>
<p>Caution seems justified here.</p>

But it seems that AMD will have to be a little more patient.</p>
<p>This is not a very good omen for the financial come-back of Intel&#8217;s main competitor that is still depending a lot of this year&#8217;s launch of 3- and 4-core processors.</p>
