Is it a wild dog? Is it a painted dog? French-speaking people describe it as “a kind of wolf” (lycaon<\/em>, from ancient Greek \u03bb\u03c5\u03ba\u03ac\u03c9\u03bd (luk\u00e1\u014dn)). But it should be mostly described as a social dog<\/span>. They live in large groups, with a strong social hierarchy, but they always share food like nearly no other large social predator (like lion or wolf). Wild dogs will always eat together (and very fast), with no hierarchical “pecking order”, but a shared spirit, which drives them to even always bring back food to the group members left behind (young pups, old guys, wounded dogs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They always hunt in a group, long-distance running, physically exhausting the targeted prey. The antelope they hunt has very, very little chance of getting a free pass. Their success rate is just plain spectacular.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
