Black buffalos in the night
I had recently the opportunity to shoot pictures from the Zimanga Reserve overnight hides. There I could meet (face to face, really!) some of the largest herbivores of the African savannah: Water buffalos. I collected some of these in a portfolio at Wild Focus: Buffles noirs dans la nuit.

Cape buffalos
Honestly, the Cape Buffalo is not a very beautiful animal. Most cows are more pleasant. But, it is impressively powerful and a nice landing strip for oxpeckers. Buffalos, black & white
Some subjects are easier to render in black and white, I believe. The buffalo calls for simplified rendition where the shapes are improved by the lack of color which appears relying on much older technology. Cape Buffalo (Syncerus caffer, Buffle d’Afrique).
