F.E.A.R. 2 is not the sequel to F.E.A.R.

F.E.A.R. - First Encounter Assault Recon (FPS game)This is becoming weirder and weirder. I had previously spoken about Ubisoft announcing FarCry 2 to follow in the footsteps of FarCry (a sequel?) while Crytek was working on Crysis (a technical improvement and a sequel). Here, we have to speak of another video game in the First Person Shooter (FPS) category, F.E.A.R. that has the double fame of perfectly immersing the player in a very dark universe and to require an exceptionnaly powerful hardware configuration.

Monolith, the developer of the original game is currently working on the sequel, but they did not keep the rights on the name itself (F.E.A.R.). They have all the technology, the characters, all. But they will have to change the name. On the other side, Vivendi kept the rights to the name, but they have no access to the technology that was underlying the game’s success (not even the names of the key characters or the Artificial Intelligence of the software). So, F.E.A.R. 2 will be a totally different game…

OK are you really saying this… just because the old main character is gone does not mean that it is a differnt game. If that was true than than resident evil 2 and 4 shouldn’t be named resident evil. the whole point is that they have something in common. In fear 2 it is Alma Wade and Armacham. Before you post something you might wait so you can campare the games.

F.E.A.R. 2 starts right after the end of F.E.A.R., but with a different main, this does not mean it’s not the sequel. But, if it’s times of proper happening you’re looking for…
F.E.A.R. happens first, followed by immediate going on to F.E.A.R. Extraction Point. Whilst in the middle of extraction point, F.E.A.R. Perseus Madate starts. Now, F.E.A.R. 2 happens after the explosion, but we start in another area of the crash. So technically, once F.E.A.R. ended, all the other F.E.A.R. games made a start, with Extraction Point and F.E.A.R. 2 happening at the same time, with Perseus Mandate in the middle of them both. So if you mean F.E.A.R. 2 is not a DIRECT sequel, then you’re right.

F.E.A.R 2 May not have come after F.E.A.R.,yes, but It is the continuation of F.E.A.R. some amount of minutes before the end of the first game so as far as you are concerned, it IS the rightful sequal to a great FPS game. Idiot.
